Ryanne Mace, a 19-year-old female from Carpentersville, Illinois, tragically lost her life on February 14, 2008, during a mass shooting at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois. Ryanne, who was studying psychology at NIU, was one of five students killed in the incident. The shooter, Steven Kazmierczak, entered a lecture hall in Cole Hall and opened fire with a shotgun and two handguns, killing Ryanne and four other students before taking his own life.
