Nicholas Trotman, 38, a Black male, was shot in the early morning hours of June 29, 2011, on Olney Street in Dorchester, a Boston neighborhood. Just after 1:40 a.m., officers from Boston Police Area C-11 responded to reports of shots fired outside 45 Olney Street and found Trotman suffering from a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene. The police later identified him publicly and noted the killing was classified as a homicide by the medical examiner.
