Dajae Coleman, a 14-year-old African American male from Evanston, Illinois, was tragically shot and killed on September 22, 2012. Dajae, a freshman at Evanston Township High School, was walking with friends on Church Street around 10:30 p.m. when he was fatally shot. The incident was a case of mistaken identity, as Dajae was not the intended target.
