Tyrone "Bay-Bay" Kirkman, Tevin's 27-year-old brother, was deeply affected by his brother's death and vowed to seek revenge. At Tevin's funeral, Tyrone displayed a .357 revolver and expressed his determination to avenge his brother's murder. He believed that the individual responsible for Tevin's death was part of a rival drug family.
Tyrone Kirkman was later charged with conspiracy to commit murder in connection with his plot to kill the person he believed was responsible for his brother's death. On June 11, 2013, an undercover officer captured Tyrone on video surveillance and audio taking possession of a gun he intended to use in the revenge killing. He was subsequently arrested and held on $900,000 bail.
In addition to Tyrone Kirkman's arrest, Pierre Mayweather, a 27-year-old male, was also charged in connection with Tevin Kirkman's murder. Mayweather was ordered held without bail for his involvement in the fatal shooting.
