Donavin "Lil Don" Kyle Harris, a 20-year-old African American male, was tragically killed on February 10, 2019, in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. Harris was standing outside a home in the 6600 block of South Harvard Avenue when he was approached by an assailant who fired multiple shots at him. He sustained gunshot wounds to his chest, hand, and foot.
Despite being rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center, Harris succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 5 p.m. An autopsy confirmed that he died from multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide.
The circumstances surrounding Harris's death are believed to be linked to gang-related violence. Harris was reportedly a member of the Gangster Disciples, and his killing was speculated to be a retaliatory act following the murder of Lawrence "Big Law" Loggins, a high-ranking member of the rival Black Disciples gang. Loggins was killed on February 6, 2019, and there was talk on social media that Harris had taunted the Black Disciples about Loggins' death, which may have led to his own murder.
