Daquan Boyd, an 18-year-old African American male, was fatally shot on August 18, 2013, in Chicago, IL. Boyd was returning home from the Taste of Austin, a neighborhood festival, when he and a friend were approached by two men on bicycles who opened fire. Boyd was struck in the lower back and managed to escape into an alley, where he succumbed to his injuries. His friend, also 18, was shot in the side but survived after being taken to Stroger Hospital.
