On a cold February evening in 2012, the life of a young African-American man, Mohamed Hassan, was tragically cut short. The 21-year-old male was in Blackstone Square in Boston's South End on Sunday, February 19, when violence erupted. At approximately 9:30 p.m., the sound of four gunshots pierced the night, sending people in the park running for cover. When the chaos subsided, Hassan was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the face. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
