Nathaniel Burns Jr., a 16-year-old African American male from Sauk Village, Illinois, tragically lost his life on August 14, 2014, in a shooting incident. The shooting occurred around 1:45 p.m. in the parking lot of a strip mall located in the 1700 block of Sauk Trail. Nathaniel was pronounced dead at 2:52 p.m. at Franciscan St. Margaret Medical Center in Dyer, Indiana. The incident also resulted in injuries to three other individuals, all in their late teens and early 20s.
