Ronald Johnson, a 25-year-old African-American man, was fatally shot by a Chicago police officer on October 12, 2014. The incident occurred during a police chase in the Washington Park neighborhood of Chicago. According to reports, Johnson was fleeing from officers when he was shot in the back by Officer George Hernandez. The Independent Police Review Authority later determined that the shooting was justified, stating that Johnson was armed with a gun at the time of the incident.
