Rachael R. Ross-Golden, a 41-year-old African American woman, was found dead on January 2, 2015, in her apartment in Belvidere, Illinois. She had suffered a single gunshot wound to the head. The discovery was made by police at approximately 7:40 a.m. in the 2100 block of Tobyne Drive. The investigation quickly identified Michael Spraggins, a 46-year-old man who was romantically involved with Ross-Golden, as the primary suspect.
