Deonte Hoard, a 17-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on March 2, 2015, in the South Deering neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. Deonte was a senior at Urban Prep Academy, known for its success in guiding young men from inner-city neighborhoods to four-year colleges. He was a promising student and athlete, playing basketball and running track. Deonte had been accepted to several colleges and was looking forward to a bright future.
