Donnel Morrison, a 17-year-old male, died on July 24, 2015, as a result of a shooting incident in the North Lawndale neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. On the evening of July 24, around 6:45 p.m., Morrison was standing on the 1200 block of South Kolin Avenue when a black minivan pulled up, and someone fired a shot from the vehicle. Morrison was hit in the back and, along with his friends, ran into a nearby house after the shooting.
It was only after entering the house that they discovered Morrison had been injured, prompting them to call for help.
Morrison was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:04 p.m. by the medical examiner’s office. The police investigation indicated that Morrison was likely the target of the drive-by shooting.
As of the reports, no one was in custody for Morrison's murder. The Chicago Police were seeking information from the public to aid in their investigation. Andrew Holmes, who works with Chicago Survivors and lives in the neighborhood, encouraged anyone with information to call the organization's tip hotline. Despite the efforts to gather information, there were no reported arrests or suspects identified in connection with Morrison's death.
The case remains unsolved, with no further updates on any suspects, arrests, or litigation related to the murder of Donnel Morrison. The incident highlights the ongoing challenges of violence and unsolved crimes in certain neighborhoods of Chicago.
