Cortez Pickett, a 25-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on August 30, 2015, in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Born on October 25, 1989, in Centralia, Illinois, Cortez was a beloved son, father, and brother. He was known for his affectionate nature and was deeply cherished by his family and friends. On the morning of his death, Cortez was found at his home, having succumbed to a fatal gunshot wound.
