On April 5, 2016, at approximately 11:16 PM, deputies from the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department responded to a report of a shooting in the 100 block of Amelia Drive in unincorporated Cahokia, Illinois. Upon arrival, they discovered 19-year-old Leroy D. Short, a male from East St. Louis, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
