Nigel Hailey, a 42-year-old man from Columbus, Ohio, was fatally shot on September 27, 2016, at the Mildred Hailey Apartments (formerly Bromley-Heath) in Jamaica Plain, Boston. The shooting occurred around 1 a.m. on Centre Street, where Hailey was shot four times in the upper body. His death drew significant attention as he was the grandson of Mildred C. Hailey, a community leader after whom the housing development was renamed.
