Manuel Sosa, a 53-year-old Hispanic male, was found dead in the basement of his home in Rockford, Illinois, on October 1, 2016. The Winnebago County Coroner's Office identified him and confirmed that he died from a gunshot wound. The discovery of his body led to an immediate investigation by the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office, which classified the case as a murder. The authorities found Sosa's body at 2514 Whale Avenue, and an autopsy was scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
