On the evening of October 6, 2016, at approximately 10:29 p.m., the DeKalb Police Department responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting at a multi-unit apartment complex located at 810 Kimberly Drive in DeKalb, Illinois. Upon arrival, officers discovered 25-year-old Debrece G. Shields lying in the parking lot adjacent to a vehicle, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
