Gerald Fortson, an 18-year-old African American male from Chicago Heights, IL, tragically lost his life on October 9, 2016. The incident occurred in Sauk Village, where Fortson was a passenger in a vehicle on the 22100 block of Torrance Avenue around 7 p.m. During a disagreement with an individual outside the vehicle, Fortson was fatally shot. He was pronounced dead at Franciscan Health hospital in Dyer, Indiana, with his death ruled a homicide.
