Hernando Lamont Caster, a 38-year-old African American male, was fatally shot on October 28, 2016, in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred on a sidewalk in the 4900 block of West Huron Street. According to authorities, two gunmen approached Caster and shot him in the back and thighs. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:58 p.m. The shooting was believed to be gang-related.
