Gilbert Leroy Wainwright III, a 31-year-old male from Downers Grove, Illinois, was fatally shot on October 30, 2016, in the Humboldt Park neighborhood of Chicago. The incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. when officers responded to a call of shots fired and found Wainwright lying on the sidewalk in the 3400 block of West Hirsch.
