Simmie McGruder, a 25-year-old African American male, was fatally shot on January 3, 2017, in the Homan Square neighborhood on the West Side of Chicago. The incident occurred around 11:13 p.m. when officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 3200 block of West Lexington. Upon arrival, they found Simmie McGruder and his younger brother, Simmieon McGruder, lying in the street. Simmieon, aged 23, had been shot in the head and left arm and was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital at 11:52 ...
