On January 17, 2017, Tina Stevanovic, a 49-year-old woman from Glendale Heights, IL, was found dead in her townhome. Responding to a call at approximately 11:45 AM, officers and paramedics discovered Stevanovic with multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband, Darko Radonjic, 48, was found alive but unconscious inside the residence and was transported to a hospital for medical treatment. The cause of his unconscious state was not immediately known.
The investigation revealed no signs of forced entry into the home, and both Stevanovic and Radonjic were residents of the townhome. Radonjic was placed in police custody pending further investigation while receiving medical care. As of the initial reports, he had not been criminally charged. The Glendale Heights Police Department, in conjunction with the DuPage County Coroner's Office and the DuPage County Major Crimes Task Force, continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding Stevanovic's death.
Authorities were confident that there was no risk to the community and were not seeking any other individuals in connection with the incident. The autopsy for Stevanovic was scheduled for January 18, 2017, at the DuPage County Coroner's Office. The investigation remained ongoing, with additional details to be shared as they became available.
