On January 23, 2017, Jomontae J. Freeman, a 20-year-old African American male, was found shot to death in the back seat of a silver car on the Near West Side of Chicago. The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of West Monroe. Responding officers discovered Freeman with multiple gunshot wounds to the head and body. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:36 p.m. Freeman resided in the 3600 block of West Chicago.
