Lester Sanders Jr., a 30-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on May 24, 2017, in Rockford, Illinois. The incident occurred on Sablewood Drive, where Sanders was shot in the doorway of his apartment. The shooting was the result of a drive-by incident that stemmed from a series of escalating arguments between two teenage girls and their acquaintances.
