Dejanay L. Stanton, a 24-year-old African American transgender woman, was tragically found with a gunshot wound to the head on August 30, 2018, in Chicago, Illinois. She was discovered in an alley in the 4000 block of South King Drive around 11:20 a.m. after nearby residents reported hearing gunshots. Dejanay was rushed to Stroger Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
