On October 31, 2018, 21-year-old Maria Coronel, a Hispanic female, was tragically shot and killed in Chicago, Illinois. That evening, Maria was in a parked car on the Northwest Side with her twin sister and two young nieces, aged 1 and 2, after a night of trick-or-treating. An unknown man forced his way into the vehicle, brandished a firearm, and demanded money.
