On January 28, 2019, Mohammed Rafati, a 39-year-old man from Hickory Hills, Illinois, was found shot to death in the Chicago Lawn community on the Southwest Side of Chicago. The incident occurred around 6 p.m. when officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 6900 block of South Western Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered Rafati in the backseat of a vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was immediately rushed to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead.
