Braden Michael Huerta, a 22-year-old male from Peoria, Illinois, tragically lost his life on January 29, 2019. Braden, who was born on June 24, 1996, was a beloved member of his community, known for his involvement in tumbling and dance at D & D Productions. He was a dedicated father to his son, Noah, and cherished by his family and friends.

On the morning of January 29, 2019, Braden Huerta and his friend, 23-year-old Alijah W. Sumrell, were found shot in the 200 block of East Virginia Avenue in Peoria. The incident occurred around 12:40 a.m., as detected by the Shot Spotter gunfire-detection system, which indicated that four shots were fired. Braden was discovered inside a vehicle with a single gunshot wound to the head, while Alijah was found on the ground nearby, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Both men were transported to OSF St. Francis Medical Center, but it is believed they died instantly from their injuries.
