Robert S. Gardner, a 52-year-old African American man, was tragically shot and killed on April 7, 2019, in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. He was discovered with a gunshot wound to his head just after 8:30 a.m. in the 6700 block of South Normal Boulevard. Gardner was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities. He lived in the same block where he was shot, which added a layer of sorrow to the incident as it occurred in his own community.
