On May 5, 2019, 22-year-old Keon Davis was fatally shot in Chicago's Austin neighborhood. Early that morning, Davis was walking with an 18-year-old man on the west sidewalk of the 1600 block of North Mason Avenue when an assailant approached them on foot and opened fire. The 18-year-old suffered a shoulder wound, while Davis was struck in the head. He was transported to Stroger Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries approximately five hours later.
