Kendrick Woods, a 28-year-old African American man, was tragically killed on May 12, 2019, in Chicago, Illinois. Kendrick had traveled from Madison, Wisconsin, to Chicago to surprise his mother for Mother’s Day. He was sitting in a vehicle in the Humboldt Park neighborhood around 1:15 a.m. when someone fired shots from an alley, striking him in the abdomen. Despite being rushed to Stroger Hospital, Kendrick succumbed to his injuries approximately eight hours later.
