Emmanuel Elijah McMahon, a 20-year-old African American male, was tragically shot on January 24, 2020, in the West Humboldt Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred around noon while he was driving in the 1100 block of North Ridgeway Avenue. McMahon was shot multiple times and was immediately taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.
Despite the medical team's efforts, he succumbed to his injuries four days later, on January 28, 2020.
The Cook County medical examiner's office conducted an autopsy and determined that McMahon's death was a homicide caused by multiple gunshot wounds. The shooting incident was part of a broader pattern of violence in the area, as less than two hours after McMahon was shot, a teenage boy was also shot in the head and arm just blocks away. The boy was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in critical condition.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with McMahon's murder. The investigation is ongoing, and the Chicago Police Department continues to seek information and leads to identify the perpetrators. The community remains hopeful that justice will be served for Emmanuel Elijah McMahon and his family.
