Deaunte Crudup, a 28-year-old African American man from Harvey, Illinois, was fatally shot on January 29, 2020, while driving his girlfriend to look at apartments in Dolton, Illinois. The incident occurred around 5:05 p.m. in the 15000 block of Minerva Avenue. According to Dolton police Chief Ernest Mobley and the Lake County coroner’s office, Crudup was driving when a vehicle passed him, made a U-turn, and someone inside the vehicle fired shots.
