James Vara, a 15-year-old boy from Waukegan, Illinois, tragically lost his life on August 28, 2020. James, who was of Hispanic descent, was attending a car show with friends in the parking lot of a strip mall on North Green Bay Road, a location known for hosting such events. The evening took a devastating turn when, just before 10 p.m., at least two men approached the group, pulled out guns, and shot James in the head.
