Death by Force

Deshawn Lemont Jones, a 30-year-old African American man, was fatally shot in the early hours of November 27, 2020, in the Gresham neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago. He was standing in an alley in the 1500 block of West 79th Street when an unknown assailant fired shots, striking him in the head. Jones was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. The Cook County medical examiner's office ruled his death a homicide.
