Javontae Hendricks, a 28-year-old African American male, was fatally shot on February 28, 2021, in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred around 11:10 a.m. in the 1400 block of North Mayfield Avenue. According to police reports, Hendricks was struck in the head by gunfire and was subsequently transported to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he was pronounced dead.
