Erik Esquivel, an 18-year-old male, was tragically shot multiple times on April 22, 2021, while sitting in his red Honda sedan in the 9600 block of Greenwood Road, in unincorporated Maine Township. He was taken to Lutheran General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Erik had recently moved to Maine Township from Rogers Park after being shot there in November 2020.
The Cook County Sheriff's Office has been actively seeking information from the public to solve this homicide. The shooter, described as a male wearing a mask and a knit cap, fled the scene in a silver Jeep Cherokee, which was later found in Rogers Park. The Jeep had been stolen, adding another layer of complexity to the investigation.
Despite the efforts of law enforcement, the case remains unsolved. The Cook County Sheriff's Office continues to ask for the public's help in identifying the suspect and bringing justice to Erik Esquivel and his family.
