Demetrius Burgess Jr., a 19-year-old African American male, was tragically killed on May 14, 2021, in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood of Chicago, IL. The incident occurred around 2:17 p.m. while Demetrius was walking in the 7900 block of South Paulina Street. According to reports, an unknown assailant drove up in a vehicle and opened fire, striking Demetrius in the back. He was immediately transported to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
