In the cold of a late autumn evening in Baltimore, tragedy struck on the 4000 block of Oakford Avenue. On November 30, 2008, Darren Davis, a 26-year-old Black male, was shot and killed in a violent outburst that also claimed the lives of two other individuals. The other victims were identified as 45-year-old Troy Brown and 14-year-old Perrish Parker. The triple homicide was part of a significant wave of violence that made November 2008 the deadliest month of the year in the city.
