In the early evening of October 2, 2015, the bustling Hilltop Shopping Center in the 5400 block of Reisterstown Road in Baltimore, Maryland, became the scene of a tragedy. Amidst the daily errands of shoppers and the general hum of the busy area, gunfire erupted, shattering the peace and leaving chaos in its wake. When the shooting ceased, five people were struck, among them 71-year-old James Gaylord. The violence of that day claimed his life and left a community in shock.
