On August 8, 2021, Yashreanna Bell-Young, a 24-year-old African American woman from Loves Park, Illinois, was tragically shot and killed. The incident occurred just before 11 p.m. in the area of the 7700 block of Venus Street. When authorities arrived at the scene, they found Bell-Young suffering from a gunshot wound, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
