Dean Joseph Ebert, a 41-year-old Caucasian male, tragically lost his life on October 30, 2021, in East St. Louis, Illinois. The incident occurred outside Pop’s Nightclub, located at 1403 Mississippi Avenue, where Ebert was found deceased in the parking lot from a gunshot wound. The Sauget Police Department, with the assistance of the Major Case Squad of Greater St.
Louis, responded to the scene at approximately 8:12 AM following reports of shots fired.
The investigation revealed that Dean Ebert was caught in a crossfire, leading to his untimely death. As a result of the thorough investigation, two suspects were identified and charged in connection with the murder. Deondra Canaday, a 28-year-old male, faced charges of First Degree Murder, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Similarly, Tashayule Armstrong, a 32-year-old male, was charged with Murder/Other Forcible Felony, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Both suspects were held on a bond of $1,000,000 each.
The case against Canaday and Armstrong proceeded through the legal system, with both individuals facing serious charges that could result in significant prison time if convicted.
