Fredrick Purnell, a 19-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on February 20, 2015, in East St. Louis, Illinois. The incident occurred when Purnell was a passenger in a car that was approached by Darren McCloud, an 18-year-old from Shiloh, Illinois. McCloud allegedly walked up to the vehicle and fired several rounds inside, fatally wounding Purnell. A 16-year-old passenger in the car was also shot in the back but survived, while the driver and his 11-year-old sister were unharm ...
