Death by Force

John Joiner, a 50-year-old African American man, was found shot to death on November 10, 2021, in the South Chicago neighborhood. He was discovered unresponsive on the ground around 9:35 p.m. in the 2800 block of East 81st Street. John Joiner had suffered gunshot wounds to his head and was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The circumstances surrounding his death were immediately treated as a homicide by the Chicago police.
