Jeffrey J. Berner, a 65-year-old White/Caucasian male, was working as a taxi driver in Chicago on January 5, 2022, when what began as a routine fare ended in a fatal shooting on the city's Far South Side. Berner had picked up a passenger from a motel in Calumet Park and drove toward a CTA Red Line station. The trip ended in the 600 block of West 95th Street in the Washington Heights area, roughly six blocks from the station where the passenger had reportedly asked to be dropped off.
