On the night of June 22, 2009, Abdul Choudhry, a 51-year-old male, was working at the Shell Station he owned on North Salisbury Boulevard in Salisbury, Maryland, when a violent encounter cut his life short. At approximately 11:00 p.m., two men entered the establishment with the intent to rob it. The suspects, both described as Black males, brandished a gun and demanded money from Choudhry.
A struggle ensued between Choudhry and one of the assailants. During the altercation, he was shot multiple times. The two suspects then fled the scene on foot, leaving Choudhry gravely wounded. Emergency services were called, and he was quickly transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center for treatment. Despite the efforts of medical staff, Choudhry succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Law enforcement officials began an investigation into the deadly shooting. One of the suspects was described as a thin man, standing about six feet tall, who was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a mask that concealed his face. The second suspect was also reported to be wearing dark-colored clothing.
