Marquita Davis, a 27-year-old African American woman from Chicago, IL, tragically lost her life on May 8, 2022. The incident occurred in the early hours of Mother's Day, around 5 a.m., in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side of Chicago. Marquita was shot in the armpit while she was in the 1500 block of South Sawyer Avenue. Despite her injuries, she managed to drive herself to Mount Sinai Hospital.
