Isidro R. Juarez, a 23-year-old Hispanic male, tragically lost his life on September 17, 2022, in Grayslake, Illinois. Born on June 29, 1999, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Isidro was a beloved member of his family, survived by his mother and stepfather, Samantha and Isidro Ayala, his father Armando Juarez, his grandparents, and his siblings. His untimely death left a profound impact on his family and community.
On the day of the incident, Isidro was a passenger in a vehicle traveling west on Washington Street near Lancer Lane in Grayslake. At approximately 10:45 a.m., another vehicle approached, and shots were fired, striking Isidro. Despite being rushed to Northwestern Medicine Center, he succumbed to his injuries. The Grayslake Police Department, along with the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force, launched an extensive investigation to identify the perpetrator.
The investigation led to the arrest of Andrew Alexander, who was 17 years old at the time of the shooting. Alexander was initially charged as a juvenile but was later transferred to adult court. In May 2023, he was taken into custody, and after a thorough investigation, he was identified as the shooter. Alexander pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 20 years in prison in January 2024. The court proceedings included a victim impact statement from Isidro's mother, expressing her profound grief and the irreplaceable loss of her son.
