Derrek Booker, a 34-year-old African American male, was found shot to death on October 31, 2022, in the West Garfield Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. His body was discovered in an empty lot in the 3800 block of West Van Buren Avenue with multiple gunshot wounds. The Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner's office confirmed that he was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His death was ruled a homicide.
