Fred Edward Simmons, a white male, was murdered on November 21, 1973, in Gwinnett County, Georgia. He was traveling with Bob Durwood Moore, another white male, when they encountered Troy Leon Gregg and Floyd Ralford Allen, who were hitchhiking north in Florida. Simmons and Moore, who were seen in possession of large sums of money, picked up Gregg and Allen after their car broke down.
